We are super proud to have been awarded England Athletic’s Run Together Group of the Year for the East Region. We were especially proud as we only set the Group up less than a year ago. Of course, we are now also an Affiliated Club …
Month: August 2018
Sunday was the Thorney 5 Mile which saw three of our April None To Run starters run their first ever race.
Picking up a race number for the first time were Dani (50.48), Nikkita (53.17) and Annika (54.19) – very well done girls!
Also running were David (47.50), Andrea (49.07), Lizzie (50.19), Reachel (52.45) and Nib (54.28) who paced Annika.
This was a super well organised event complete with a great choice of post race cake! Thank you Thorney!
Also running on Sunday was Kat in the Kimbolton Half Marathon which comes complete with some mega hills. Kat finished the tough course in 2:13:57 – well done Kat!
So, off set Andrea, David, Kat, Helen and Nona to a St Neots 10k in the beautiful sunshine.
The Riverside Runners 31st anniversary 10K fell on one of the hottest days of the year. A super easy check-in complete with issue of the top notch participants T Shirt was followed by gathering in the shade of the trees along with pretty much every other runner waiting for the 10.30 start.
The route included a bouncy bridge, the riverside (obviously) and a pub. It was pretty flat and so on a cooler day, it would make for a few PBs but not today.
Kat came home in an impressive 1.03.26 followed by David in 1.07.37 and Andrea in 1.07.56. Helen & Nona were looking to maintain an 8 min km pace all the way round and were joined by the Tail Runner initially but shook him off around the 2k mark finishing in 1.26.17 and 1.29.00 respectively. For Helen this was only her second 10k and the first where she did not stop to walk any of it and so while the heat prevented her getting home in the target time, it did not stop her from running an entire 10k for the first time ever. Congratulations to Helen!
