After our regular Sunday morning run, we were lucky enough to have a full English put on for us by the village charity, CARESCO.
40 of our runners came along for the breakfast which was amazing! The sausages and bacon were from our local butchers The Butchers Blade and it was all cooked to perfection by CARESCO’s lovely volunteers.
I suspect we will be back for more!
Apart from Joy who picked up an injury at the end of her training, there were only 3 runners from our latest beginners cohort who were still to do their graduation parkrun.
David, Jacqueline and Charlie were those runners and all three ran every step of the way. Charlie who has lost 3 stone since she started running with us, was first home in 30.24, followed by David in 33.43 and Jacqueline in 37.40.
David went off before we got a chance to snap a photo but here are mum and daughter combo, Jacqueline & Charlie after picking up their medal and certificate with our coaches Andrea & Nib.
We loved this event last year when we had two teams. This time we were back with 4 teams.
Being a newish club with a lot of new runners, it was quite a challenge finding people for the longer legs in this event but as ever, our Sawtry Walk To Runners quite literally stepped up so we could field 4 teams. It was a fabulous day which saw tears, a near collapse and just everyone giving it their all for their team.
We didn’t win any categories but one of our teams came 12th overall and we had the best day!
