Club Member of the Month

Club Member of the Month

This month’s Club Member of the Month is Kate who joined us as a non-runner in 2018. It is fair to say that unlike Verity, who was last month’s CMOTM, Kate is very quiet. However, we have seen her flourish in her time with us […]

Our 6th None To Run Beginners programme

Our 6th None To Run Beginners programme

On Sunday 15 September 2019, over 20 people turned up for our new beginners programme. This was the 6th time we have run this course and we are pleased to say its as popular as ever.

The first session starts with 30 second run segments and it builds up over 12 weeks to 25 minutes officially but generally everyone can run 5k without stopping by the end. We always end with a celebratory parkrun and our beginners have completed this in times from 30 minutes to 53 minutes.  Lots go on to not only smash their inaugural times but run 10ks, Half Marathons and beyond.

There is still time to join the current course or you can get your name down for the next one which will be in March 2020.

Club Member of the Month – September

Club Member of the Month – September

This month’s award went to Verity who joined us as a None To Runner in 2018. She finished that course with a 5k parkrun and went on to work up to 10K. Unfortunately, she picked up an injury which meant she wasn’t able to finish […]

Thorney 5 Mile & Kimbolton Half

Thorney 5 Mile & Kimbolton Half

4 of us ventured over to Thorny for their 5 mile race which is really well organised and friendly. For all of us it was our first 5 Mile race and in Jacquie’s case, it was her first ever race of any distance. Laura was […]

Archie finished first at the Eye 5k handicap

Archie finished first at the Eye 5k handicap

Archie only joined us as a beginner runner towards the end of our last None To run programme. As the group were on week 9, he struggled to keep up but persevered and has been getting stronger.

Unsure of his 5k time but having completed the Werrington 5 Mile Guesstimate only a couple of weeks before in just over an hour, he predicted 35 mins as his time for what was his first run at a 5k. However, from the off, it was clear that he was going to beat the 35 min estimate and he did. Not only that, but he was the first to cross the line and so smashed his predicted time by nearly 5 minutes making him the Club winner on the night.

To job Archie!

Splice the mainbrace!

Splice the mainbrace!

For the past few weeks Alex has been training hard to complete her fitness test to stay in the Navy. As part of the test, she had to run 2.4km in just over 15 minutes.

Her confidence suffered a knock when she started to struggle after picking up a chest infection a few weeks before the test. However, she dug in, followed the advice of our coach and took on all the positive vibes of our club members and smashed the test finishing in 14.10 so nearly a minute under the target time.

Today she brought along some Pussers Rum to splice the mainbrace in true Navy style!
