For the past few weeks Alex has been training hard to complete her fitness test to stay in the Navy. As part of the test, she had to run 2.4km in just over 15 minutes. Her confidence suffered a knock when she started to struggle […]
13 of us headed over to Werrington on what was a very hot and balmy evening. This is an event which has been running for some years and the idea is that you predict how long it will take you to run 5 miles and the person who finishes closest to their predicted time wins!
In the end there were 3 people within 1 second of their time so that is pretty impressive. For us, coach Andrea was closest finishing just 4 seconds outside her predicted time – well done to her!
It was a really good evening which included a tasty buffet at The Ploughmans Pub and raised just over £500 for their chosen charity.
This weekend a whole bunch of us took part in the Living Sport 10k at Ferry Meadows.
Ferry Meadows is a lovely park to run around and it was good to venture out into parts which you don’t get to see at parkrun.
We had 3 people running 10k for the first time and 16 of us in total
Finish time were: Jon S 2(55:03), Carol A (56:00), Amiee (56:03), Anna-Marie (58:37), Jon S 1 (1:04:45), Ken (1:07:03), Nikkita (1:08:49), Catherine W (1:11:15), Yazzie (1:11:16), Caroline (1:12:30), Helen (1:12:38), Catherine B (1:13:49), Kim (1:14:28), Verity (1:14:53), Darren (1:17:26) and finally Nona (1:20:43).
Well done all!
We did our second parkrun takeover of the year on 22 June. Nona was Run Director and nearly all the volunteers came from the Club.
We have nearly 100 registered runners at Peterborough parkrun now which is amazing considering we are such a young club and with so many runners enjoying it, it is only right we do the odd takeover to give back.
We love it, none more so than our Tail Walker who is becoming a bit of a regular in her squirrel suit, no matter what the weather!
