Poppy Appeal

Poppy Appeal

We were very proud to be part of this year’s Poppy Appeal. The Sawtry community has really come together to remember the fallen from WW1 in this anniversary year. There are poppies on the lamp posts and displays all around the village on homes, schools and […]

More PBs this weekend!

More PBs this weekend!

Another busy couple of days for SWTR. Over at parkrun, Darren (29.42) and Nikkita (31.03) were out with Annika who knocked nearly 4 mins off her PB with a time of 31.09 – impressive! Also PBing this weekend was Meg who had entered the Leicester […]

Parkrun and more PBs!

Parkrun and more PBs!

Woohoo! Another nice turn out at Peterborough parkrun today. We had a runner at Hastings too on a bit of parkrun tourism – Sonia grabbed a seafront PB of 27.24 – well done!

Back at Peterborough, Tina took on her first parkrun finishing in an impressive 45.55. Tina only started None To Run 3 weeks ago and that programme has seen her complete one minute run segments this week. Today her longest segment was 7 minutes! Top stuff and like others before her, Tina is already proving that people who think they are walkers, can actually be runners! It will be great to compare times when she graduates from None To Run in December.

Finishing just behind Tina was our Liz who took over 2 minutes off her PB finishing in 47.51, with an age grading in her 65-69 age group of 43.68%. Just brill.

Also on a first time parkrun was new member Becky who romped home in 33.14 after a super speedy interval session on Thursday – welcome Becky and very well done!

Just ahead of Becky was Sally who is progressively getting faster and finished today in 33.06. Son James, who is just 6, nipped ahead at the end to complete in 32.12 (his PB is 29.28 and he wants to go sub 28!). He already has a 63.46% age grading – a star of the future right there.

Also getting PBs were Darren (29.15), Lorna (28.18), Larua (29.36) Ken (27.20) & Ryan (18.55). Lorna & Laura’s were particularly  impressive as they had been at Oktoberfest the night before!

Also out were Andrea (31.39), Jace (23.17), David (28.44), Lizzie (28.44), Jon (27.21) pacing Ken, Helen (47.51) pacing Liz, Nona (45.55) pacing Tina and Nib (28.18) pacing Lorna.

What a great morning!

Another PB this time for Helen

Another PB this time for Helen

Helen started our None To Run programme last January. She then completed our 3 – 5k programme and our 5 – 10k programme. Her first parkrun in June saw her complete the 5k in 39.35. Her next was completed in 40.44 and her third in […]

Our 1st Birthday

Our 1st Birthday

It is hard to believe that our first run ever was less than a year ago on 22 October 2017. Nona had put a post on Facebook to see if anyone was interested in joining her either to learn to run or to help with […]

Perkins Great Eastern Run

Perkins Great Eastern Run

The one word to sum up everyone’s day at the Peterborough Half Marathon was probably…wet!

Boy did it rain. It rained while we were waiting to get started, it rained all the way round and it carried on raining after – resulting in a trip to the St John’s tent for a touch of hyperthermia for Nib who had over an hour to wait after his finish before his wife crossed the line as the final Sawtry Walk To Runner home.

Despite the rain, it was a brilliant event and everyone did super well.   We had three entrants in the Anna’s Hope Fun Run and over 20 runners in the Half with times ranging from 1.28 to 2.57.

If you were in any doubt as to how wet it was, our photo of Laura (and yes that is a shower cap) who finished in 2.08.44.
