A ridiculously hot 10K at St Neots

So, off set Andrea, David, Kat, Helen and Nona to a St Neots 10k in the beautiful sunshine.

The Riverside Runners 31st anniversary 10K fell on one of the hottest days of the year. A super easy check-in complete with issue of the top notch participants T Shirt was followed by gathering in the shade of the trees along with pretty much every other runner waiting for the 10.30 start.

The route included a bouncy bridge, the riverside (obviously) and a pub. It was pretty flat and so on a cooler day, it would make for a few PBs but not today.

Kat came home in an impressive 1.03.26 followed by David in 1.07.37 and Andrea in 1.07.56. Helen & Nona were looking to maintain an 8 min km pace all the way round and were joined by the Tail Runner initially but shook him off around the 2k mark finishing in 1.26.17 and 1.29.00 respectively. For Helen this was only her second 10k and the first where she did not stop to walk any of it and so while the heat prevented her getting home in the target time, it did not stop her from running an entire 10k for the first time ever. Congratulations to Helen!
