What a weekend!

What a weekend!

10 of our runners signed up to the Ramsey 10k while another 5 were running the Race For Life with their family over at Ferry Meadows. It was a very hot day and we are still waiting for times to come in. Nona & Sally […]

With thanks to Andrea in her post as Club Social Secretary, the Green Wheel Relay runners and their support teams enjoyed a lovely meal at the Admiral Wells in Holme after the race to finish off a super day. It was a fun evening with good […]

Green Wheel Relay

Green Wheel Relay

This was our first real team event. We have entered races as individuals before but never with teams made up of our own runners.

We had 2 teams of 7 running 50 miles around Peterborough. We had support drivers, bikers and Nona with her clipboard checking and cheering at every handover.

It was a fantastic day which was very well organised by Dave at Eye Community Runners.

Everyone had a fab time and we will definitely be back next year now we know how it all works.

The winning team was Team Keira:

We made the local press!

We love our T Shirts as they do stand out when we are participating in races and it looks like they caught the eye of the photographer from the Hunts Post. Our stall, including the Human Fruit Machine, was included in an article about the […]

Sawtry Carnival

Sawtry Carnival

Saturday 9 June 2018 was the date of this year’s Sawtry Carnival. Sawtry Walk To Run joined the parade and had 5 runners set off at the front with a bunch of us walking just behind the marching band who were amazing! The runners managed […]

Runstock

Runstock

Once again our Sarah put herself forward for a challenging run. This weekend it was Runstock.

The idea at Runstock is to run as many 5ks as you can in 8 hours.

For each 5k you get a wrist band. As you can see from the photo, Sarah did exceptionally well and came home with 9 wristbands having covered 45k!

Top work!

Stanwick Lakes & Parkrun

Stanwick Lakes & Parkrun

Sawtry Walk To Run were busy at the Sawtry Carnival this weekend so only two of our brood were at parkrun. But they were two of the best and Jace ran 22.29 so again very close to his PB of 22.21 and Ryan got yet […]

Green Wheel Relay practice run

Green Wheel Relay practice run

The Green Wheel Relay is a 50 mile, 7 stage relay around Peterborough. It is an annual event but for us at Sawtry Walk To Run, this year is our first entry as we only started up as a running group in October 2017.

We have entered 2 teams, one led by Keira and one led by Lee. Lee is Keira’s dad and so there will be some friendly Fathers Day rivalry when the teams go against each other on 17 June.

The event starts and ends at Peterborough Athletics Track. Ken and Jon are starting each team off and Darren and Lizzie will bring each team home. Today each runner completed a practice run after being dropped off at their start point and collected at their end point by their designated driver.  Ken was away and so the lovely Carol stepped in to accompany Jon on his stage which started at the track. It was supposed to be an 8.3 mile run but Jon & Carol took a bit of a unplanned detour and ended up covering 9.5 miles. Jon is now more than ready for the leg as are all our other runners. It promises to be a fab day.

25 of us at Peterborough parkrun

I’m not quite sure where the others were when we took this photo but this is us at another successful Peterborough parkrun. Nona tailed for the team and the times ranged from 19.58 to 43.12. We really do cater for all abilities and this parkrun […]
