10 of our runners signed up to the Ramsey 10k while another 5 were running the Race For Life with their family over at Ferry Meadows. It was a very hot day and we are still waiting for times to come in. Nona & Sally …
Month: June 2018
This was our first real team event. We have entered races as individuals before but never with teams made up of our own runners.
We had 2 teams of 7 running 50 miles around Peterborough. We had support drivers, bikers and Nona with her clipboard checking and cheering at every handover.
It was a fantastic day which was very well organised by Dave at Eye Community Runners.
Everyone had a fab time and we will definitely be back next year now we know how it all works.
The winning team was Team Keira:
Once again our Sarah put herself forward for a challenging run. This weekend it was Runstock.
The idea at Runstock is to run as many 5ks as you can in 8 hours.
For each 5k you get a wrist band. As you can see from the photo, Sarah did exceptionally well and came home with 9 wristbands having covered 45k!
Sawtry Walk To Run is really pleased to have been accepted onto the England Athletics #runandtalk programme. Running is well documented as a tool to improve mental health and this programme is about encouraging conversations about mental health and actively promoting well being and running. …
The Green Wheel Relay is a 50 mile, 7 stage relay around Peterborough. It is an annual event but for us at Sawtry Walk To Run, this year is our first entry as we only started up as a running group in October 2017.
We have entered 2 teams, one led by Keira and one led by Lee. Lee is Keira’s dad and so there will be some friendly Fathers Day rivalry when the teams go against each other on 17 June.
The event starts and ends at Peterborough Athletics Track. Ken and Jon are starting each team off and Darren and Lizzie will bring each team home. Today each runner completed a practice run after being dropped off at their start point and collected at their end point by their designated driver. Ken was away and so the lovely Carol stepped in to accompany Jon on his stage which started at the track. It was supposed to be an 8.3 mile run but Jon & Carol took a bit of a unplanned detour and ended up covering 9.5 miles. Jon is now more than ready for the leg as are all our other runners. It promises to be a fab day.
