Welcome to the website of Sawtry Walk To Run who are an affiliated England Athletics Running Club.
We were only established in 2017, starting life as a Run Together Group before applying for full Running Club status to meet the demand of runners in the village of Sawtry in Cambridgeshire.
We still run our free beginners programmes through the Run Together initiative every January, April and September but all other runs are managed by the Club for which membership is £20 a year. Once registered with us, runners can then become an Affiliated Athlete for an additional £15 per year which is collected by us and passed on to England Athletics on your behalf. Runners can only become an affiliated athlete if they are a member of an EA Club. Affiliated Athletes are entitled to a host of benefits including discounted race entires.
Club Runs & Half Marathon training groups meet:
Sundays 8.30am at St Judiths
at The Greystones PH on
Tuesdays at 7.15pm & Thursdays 7.15pm
Club Runners generally do 8/10k on a Sunday, a 20/25 min out and back on a Tuesday and a 5/6k on a Thursday.
HM Runners are specifcially training for the Great Eastern Run (Peterborough Half Marathon) in October. Expected finish times range from sub 1.30 right through to just under 3 hours. This means we have sub groups and runners buddying up according to their differing paces. In general, the Sunday sessions are long slow runs and the Tuesdays & Thursday sessions include a mix of tempo runs, intervals, strength training and hill training.
Our Lead Coach is always willing to draw up individual training schedules.
We pride ourselves on being inclusive and super friendly (but still competitive). If you want to see what we are about before committing to joining us, come along to one of our regular sessions at The Greystones on a Tuesday or Thursday evening at 7.15 or at St Judiths on a Sunday morning at 8.30 (9.30 in the winter).
